The Lesser-Known Last Judgment

We all
(cough, cough, cough, cough, cough) OK, here we go. Hi, my name is Father Mike Schmitz
and this is Ascension Presents. So, we all know about, what they call “the
four last things,” right? Ever since the beginning of Christianity,
the Catholic Church has taught about the four last things: Death, judgment, heaven, and hell. That every single one of us has to die. And at the moment of our death, we have what they
call the particular judgment, right? Our lives are judged. Whether we’ve chosen to say “yes” to God and
chosen him or we’ve chosen to say “no” to God, or even been indifferent towards him, we
either get heaven or hell. God’s justice is completely just. God’s judgment is completely just and we
get actually what we’ve chosen. He factors in every thing that is a “factorable”
factor in our lives, every mitigating factor, every circumstance, he knows it all through
and through. He knows our hearts through and through and we actually get what we’ve actually chosen, because Jesus has made heaven possible. So
that’s what they call the “particular judgment.” But the Catholic Church has always taught about,
and Scripture has always taught about, this thing called “The Final Judgment.”
Wait! So, at the moment of death, you get judged, and then in the Last Judgment, you get judged
again? So what’s the difference between the particular judgment and the Final Judgment? This was confusing to me until I actually
read this book called the Catechism of the Catholic Church and it sheds a lot of light
on this. This is a really great book, you guys. You really should check it out. But in the Catechism—actually it’s Catechism
1039—it highlights some of the unique parts of the Last Judgment. It says this,
It says that, “In the presence of Christ, who is Truth itself, the truth of each person’s relationship
with God will be laid bare.” I just want to highlight that. In the presence of Christ, who is Truth itself,
the truth of each person’s relationship with Christ will be laid bare, be completely clear. We will know. Scripture says, even then we will fully know
even as we are fully known. Part of that is clearly knowing God fully, as fully as we possibly can, as finite creatures
with an infinite God. But we also would fully know ourselves. Consider that moment when you get to the,
you realize, OK, these are all my wounds, these are all my weaknesses
and I actually know how they fit in my life All these opportunities I had, and all these
great strengths that God had given me and here’s how that fit in my life.
Like there will be absolutely no room for shame and no room for pride, because you will
see every single opportunity that the Lord had extended to you
that you said “yes” to but it was his grace and every single opportunity that the Lord
extended to you that you said “no” to because it was my own sin. And I will fully know myself, and you will fully
know yourself. You’ll know, you’ll fully know, your whole
story; and not just the surface stuff, but all the
meaning and the reason and the hidden stuff behind it. But also I want to extend this and say—so in
the presence of Christ, who is Truth itself, the truth of each person’s relationship with
God will be laid bare— I would propose that we would also fully know
each other; that every person in heaven would also be
fully known. So, I think that’s one of the reasons why
there’s no pride in heaven, because the people will have more capacity
for love, more capacity for joy. They will be kind of higher in heaven and
others will be lower. I could imagine if I was lower, I would feel
ashamed of myself. But if the truth of my relationship with God
is laid bare in the presence of Jesus Christ, then I know, “No, no, no. There’s no shame. This is exactly where I belong in God’s
love. This is exactly where I belong. by his grace.”
And if someone was prideful, I mean someone was really, really high in there, there wouldn’t
be any room for pride because they’d say, “No, no. I just know. This is just the truth. This is exactly where I belong because of
God’s grace, and because of your ‘yes,’ cooperation with God’s grace.”
So think about this: There are so many things that cause us to be
prideful, that’s basically we pose, right? We fake, we pretend. We want people to see our strengths but not
our weaknesses, or there are so many opportunities in life to feel ashamed. And that’s what we don’t want people to find
our weaknesses. We don’t want people to know the things that
we’re ashamed of. Well, in heaven, it will all be known. Therefore,
there’s no reason for pride and no reason for shame. There’s just reason for joy. It goes on to say, “The Last Judgment will
reveal even to its furthest consequences the good each person has done or failed to do
in their lifetime.” Think about this:
The Last Judgment. What’s that mean? That means, time is over. The story is written. Like, you know, when Christ comes again, that’s means
life on earth, as we know it, is complete. So, if this is a book, it’s the last page, the
last word, the last period at the book. So the whole thing will have been written. So it says, “The Last Judgment will reveal
even to its furthest consequences the good each person has done or failed to do
in the course of their lifetime.” And this is so cool:
Because what it reveals is, it reveals the fact at the moment of the particular judgment,
I get judged on my own life. Like here’s what I did. Here’s what I did and failed to do. Here’s where I said “yes” to the Lord. At the Last Judgment, what’s revealed is not
my own life, not merely my own life, but how my own life fit into God’s great story of
salvation. Now we all know, even to its furthest consequences,
how your good choices or your bad choices fit into that great story. I mean, consider this:
Consider that the good act that you choose today, will have ramifications to your great,
great, great, great, great grandchildren and at the Last Judgment, you’ll know even to
the furthest consequences and to their lives and to other people’s lives
and you’ll see the great way in which God was able to use your little life, your small
life, my little life, my small life. You will also be able to see the evil we chose
and how that radiated out as well, to its furthest consequences as well. Here’s the last thing:
I know that there are some people who like you go through a lot of suffering. You’ve gone through a lot of pain
and one of things that plagues you is like, “God, don’t you care? God, how can you possibly bring good out of
all the stuff I have had to go through in my life?” This is Catechism 1040: It says this, it says, “Then,” you know,
in the Last Judgment, “through his Son Jesus Christ, God will pronounce the final word
on all history,” and, “We shall know the ultimate meaning of the whole work of creation and of
the entire economy of salvation and understand the marvelous ways by which God’s Providence
led everything towards its final end.” Now, we don’t see it right now. But at the Last Judgment, you will see, “OK,
here’s all the ways in which God was able to use that cross you carried, God was able
to use the free will that he allowed someone to have that was so awful—it was used in
a terrible, terrible way—but how he was able to use that to achieve his final end, that he wanted as much salvation as possible
on this planet. And here’s the last sentence that I want to share:
“The Last Judgment will reveal that God’s justice triumphs over all the injustices committed
by his creatures and that God’s love is stronger than death.” A lot of times, you just think like, “God,
does this story mean anything? Does this life mean anything? Why are we in this world, where there is so
much pain and suffering?” That question will be answered and every—gosh,
you guys—every good action that you choose today and tomorrow and the rest of your life,
has an impact. At the particular judgment, our lives are
judged. In the Final Judgment, the way our lives
fit into God’s incredible story is finally and fully revealed. I cannot wait for that day and I just pray
that for you and for me, that we keep saying “yes” to God’s grace so that, that day, when
it’s fully revealed, we realize, “Wow, God. Even in my little life, you were able to use
me in a powerful way.” From all of us here at Ascension Presents,

  1. #askfrmike Father, I would like to ask about the praying of rosary. I just start learning about Catholic faith & my friend asked me why Catholic pray the rosary as it’s not written in the bible. This, can you please explain? Thanks

  2. http://www.brokenrites.org.au/drupal/
Check this link out idiot. To see how many of your colleagues love their job and how you , take so much pride in being one of them. You are a disgusting immorral pig 👎👎👎

  3. Fr. Mike. I love you in God the Holy Trinity, in Mary, the Communion of Saints and all the Celestial Court. Please pray for me. You are in my heart and in my prayers. Amen.

  4. "…you'll know the truth in the presence of Jesus Christ….". How does that work out for people who died hundreds of years before Christ?

  5. I keep watching these videos and praise God for them and for Fr Mike. But I am constantly reminded of my sinfulness and that no matter how hard I try I will never be in a state of grace for long, without falling into mortal sin. I feel like my efforts are in vain even though I'm trying. I know I must not be or feel alone in this. Could you all pray for people like me that we may be completely free of (mortal) sin and live life in God's grace? (Confession is kind of difficult to get to where I live so I only manage to go once a year). Thank you for your prayers.

  6. I'm Cristian and one time I heard that when we die we stay asleep in a coffin until the 2nd coming of Christ and then the dead rises

  7. Father Mike, if in the final day of judgment all will be taken into either Heaven or Hell, what will happen to Earth? Will it remain empty or will it disappear? If God says his creation is good then why would he leave Earth empty.

  8. Beautiful. Could praying to approach a portion of a particular judgement,
during examination of conscience be a good thing?
With reverence, awe, & a healthy fear of not being true to The Lord and His Ways,
recently, the Lord gave me a grace of a deep examination of conscience.
There were tears of deep regret for many things. I'd rather not go into details,
but our each of our own reputations is extremely important. Rationalizations
to fudge not honestly striving to conform by His Grace & Strength with a firm
purpose of amendment extremely hurt walking humbly with our God.
Many decisions in my life, left me with deep emotional pain. Over months,
I would plea to the Lord, I deserve this pain, I've hurt others, I put myself
in this place. Remember me that you have entered into Your Kingdom.
    As the examination of conscience ended, it took over an hour;
parts of Psalm 51 came to my mind. Like "Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin!" v 2; "Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being,
and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart." v. 6; "Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit." v. 12; "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." v. 17; and "hen will you delight in right sacrifices," ref. v. 19
Only at the very end of this wonderful cleansing experience did The Lord,
suddenly flash in my heart the unearned suffering I have endured for The Gospel,
and Sacredness of Life. The Lord showed my heart how many times I let
emotional sorrow make me rationalize my decisions — that had cooperated
with His Grace much better during difficult times — that Godly sorrow would
have made my walk with Christ much better.
from the Daily Psalter Breviary – "May the Lord Bless us, protect us from evil, and lead us to Eternal Life."

  9. Hold on…. So ok…heres my question when we go to confession and confessed those sins would those sins be included in the final judgement or will the judgement just be about that revealing truth of triumph over a sinner whose sins are blacker then night but Jesus who saved them would he reveal only from that moment which one is saved and say "this is our love story" or will God include the evil sins even though you went to the sacrament of reconcilliation as often as lets say once a week since you had conversion

  10. So… In this video you talk about “judgement, where we either go to heaven or hell”
But, you have another video where you teach of the catholic “safety net” purgatory.
That seems a bit confusing and contradictory, if not just obviously hypocritical. No?

  11. what if you keep thinking to yourself boy i really wish the holy father would come and get me already.

  12. If this cleric is referring 2 the white throne judjement, and I think he is, u really don't want 2 b there. Jesus is judging people 2 hell. I'd read & sturdy what the bible says not the catechism. Don't take my word 4 it prove me wrong read 4 ur self. Like the book of revelation

  13. Get to confession, get right with our Lord and no worries about the end times. Christ will take care of His children. Get away from any and all forms of sin and let God take over your life. Great presentation..

  14. St. Vincent de Paul hates all those money making phony love of him among youth anywhere but especially he hated the Mexican schemes in Arizona.
If they knew anything bout him they would recognize he was a very stron belief in my dad Lazarus from thew Bi ble and they also grew up together in Wilkes Barre, Pa. when my dad was young already.

  15. The world thinks they are smart becuse they offer me a comment. Children are not developing properly if everywhere they go they are offered a comment to give. I just saw on the News how important boyertown School District was because they Are going to have armed grards. If learning was like it wAs before 1947 and the creation of the United Nations,no one would have need armed force. Martin Luther King casnnot be referred to as a help to learning. He simply was nothing but perversion of children. St. Agustine is black, but he is a different comprehension of the difference.

  16. It's called the great white throne of. Jugement revelation 20 verses 10- 15. Why would i need the catechism instead of the holy bible.

  17. Wow. Thats so amazing. So our suffering ( and everyone has suffering ) is not without a reason or a purpose. If we know this and offer it to God, then He can use it in great ways. We probably wont know in this life but we sure will in the next. God can use everything we offer Him, no matter how seemingly small or trivial.
Thanks Fr Mike. You've made a difference.

  18. What Century are we in?

Why do people still believe this nonsense in the 21st century.

Break it down and think for a minute.

There is zero evidence for anything that this guy is saying in this video.

I feel for anyone gullible enough to believe. Why are people so poor at thinking for themselves?

This priest, I get how he is in too deep, Too invested to reappraise his own beliefs. That is sad.

Why does #faith (belief despite evidence to the contrary) crave company? Only in the company of others can this delusion survive. That’s why the Catholic Church is so active in the poorly educated third world and why innocent children are indoctrinated before they can learn to think critically.

  19. A friend asked me about the final judgement and through what God thought me through the Holy Spirit (I asked Him to) plus your video, I think I’ll give her a pretty decent answer. 🙂 thanks for your videos, man, I appreciate them.

  20. Thanks Padre. May God’s blessings be with you always ! Thank you for your ministry and your beautiful videos. My wife and I will be praying for you to continue to do the will of God.

  21. Thank you Fr. Mike!
    Love you!♡

We must end the corruption in our holy mother church! One at a time. No tolerance!
God give us courage and bless us all!

  22. This is a wonderful message.
I was recently given a message to share.
    Asking, Are You Judgement Ready?
This is the video I made on that.
    https://youtu.be/Zw_LUnWcKJg

  23. Finally ALL must stand before The Judgement Seat of CHRIST JESUS(in heaven) to account to HIM for what we have done in the body(when alive) whether good or bad(the centuries of paedoohilia n cover ups of The roman catholic church in many countries)!😲 2Corinthians Chapter 5 Verse 10)

  24. Thank GOD after 24yrs in church of rome, i Came Home to JESUS n Only CHRIST in Holy Bible based Protestant churches, winning many many many from the unbiblical roman church with me. Praise CHRIST JESUS!!!

  25. I'm confused…
    About the sequence of events.
Purgatory then 2 judgements? Or judgement then purgatory then another judgement?

  26. That actually sounds depressing to me. I know I have not chosen the path God has shown me on multiple occasions, but to also see the ones I didn't realize he showing me seems sad.

  27. You’re mistaken about God and His judgement because you view it through the lens of Fear. So confused are you about this point that you have enshrined a fear-based belief in a supposed religion of love.

    Listen:

No one can escape God's Final Judgment. Who could flee forever from the truth? But the Final Judgment will not come until it is no longer associated with fear. One day each one will welcome it, and on that very day it will be given him. He will hear his sinlessness proclaimed around and around the world, setting it free as God's Final Judgment on him is received. This is the Judgment in which salvation lies. This is the Judgment that will set him free. This is the Judgment in which all things are freed with him. Time pauses as eternity comes near, and silence lies across the world that everyone may hear this Judgment of the Son of God:

Holy are you, eternal, free and whole, at peace forever in the Heart of God. Where is the world, and where is sorrow now?

The truth of this is verified by the many, many near death experiences that are now available for all to hear.

    Be well.

  28. I will go to Heaven because I have repented of my sins, and received Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
Judgement will be for the works of those who have been saved.

  29. Wow, this father is so, so cool, his way of talk, and how he talked about the final judgement, made me open my eyes, and no only my eyes, also my mind, and heart, to understand the sense of life, our purpose, in this life.

    MY CONGRATULATIONS FATHER MIKE.

Greeting from Honduras, God Bless You.

  30. When you mention the Catechism, I think of my Baltimore Catechism. I am 72 and still remember – Who made you? God made me. Who is God …

  31. So then are we stripped of free will since "all will be known?" I don't quite understand why God would make us only to judge us and strip us of our humanity.

  32. The white throne judgement is the sentencing. The judgement has already happened. Those who have not accepted Jesus

  33. None of this garbage matters.
    There is only 1 judgement.
The "Catechism" is a man made falsity.
    It's FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE.
    It's false teaching.

  34. Question: If I have confessed and repented of a sin, God says He will wipe the slate clean of it and remember it no more. So if you repent a lot of sins, I assume they won’t be used as part of the judgement, right?

  35. I am no where connected to christianity by birth or growth., but i love your videos., i love your guidance. Thank you father.,

  36. God choses who He choses and there are millions of souls who must be judged at all hours of the day and night. He judges our heart's and some are chosen.

  37. Thanks so much Fr Mike for this meaningful description about the last judgement.. As a Catholic, I believe that. God loves us unconditionally.

  38. You make no sense… If one can't indulge in receiving the highest attainment of heaven, then what is the point of it???… Ultimate Power is useless, unless your willing to use it from time to time, or have the ability to use it…. Part of the Thrill of Having Power, is EXCERSISING THAT POWER… Watching your enemies cower in fear, that is Power…. Why be meek in this life, if you are going to be a push-over in the next? If your going to make me Legion and give me power in Heaven, that is one thing…. I want power, and the ability to use it

  39. I can assure you, Fr. Mike, if I was low-down on the ladder of Paradise, I'd hate everyone above me; that's natural for me, loving those less than oneself, but also despising those above oneself- that tends to be the overall rule of functions: those above are not even given the first chance, but actively sought to be destroyed due specifically to their place, due to the actions of those in power in this life, the only life that really matters, period!

  40. Father Mike I really like your videos they’re very inspirational. My mom and my grandparents were Roman Catholics and here in a couple weeks I will be starting by holy communion classes and I can’t wait I am 53 years old and I hope it’s not too late. You give me a lot of courage thank you

  41. Are you a Catholic Priest? If You are you should shut UP!!! You should tell the Pope to shut up too. Stop preaching lies. You are a liar simply because you are not a Christian and I am 100% you are not a Christian. Christians do not bow to statues or any crosses. Christians , We believe and have Faith in the Lord Thy God, God of The Living, God Of Israel and His Son Jesus Christ Of Nazareth and Holy Spirit. The Lord Thy God never, ever said in his WORD that you can praise or bow to any statues or anything because you then make that thing a god. He never showed or appeared to His People in person but through a burning bush and a consuming fire.

The 10 Commandments and His Judgments you have literally walked on and not care what His 10 Commandments say. You are a the BIGGEST sham on this Earth trying to tell People about how to live life when you yourself are a Catholic? Catholic is a VOO-DOO religion and people in Haiti use rosaries and crosses to do their witchcraft spells to work and the sign of the cross to make their spells work.

Shut UP!!! You are A Sham!!!
