Testimony of the Book of Mormon

When Joseph Smith and his
brother Hyrum started for Carthage to face what they
knew would be an imminent martyrdom, Hyrum read these
words of comfort to the heart of his brother. Thou hast been faithful,
wherefore thou shalt be made strong even under the sitting
down in the place with which I have prepared in the mansions
of my father. A few short verses from the 12th
chapter of Ether in the Book of Mormon. Before closing the book, Hyrum
turned down the corner of the page from which he had read,
marking it as part of the everlasting testimony for which
these two brothers were about to die. I hold in my hand that book, the
very copy from which Hyrum read, the same corner
of the page turned down still visible. Later when actually incarcerated
in the jail, Joseph the prophet bore a
powerful testimony of the divine authenticity of
the Book of Mormon. Shortly thereafter, pistol and
ball would take the lives of these two testators. In this their greatest and last
hour of need, I ask you would these men blaspheme before
God by continuing to fix their lives, their honor,
and their own search for each eternal salvation on a book,
and by implication a church and a ministry they had
fictitiously created out of whole cloth? Never mind that their wives
are about to be widows and their children fatherless. Never mind that their little
band of followers will yet be houseless, homeless, and
friendless, and that their children will leave footprints
of blood across frozen rivers and an untamed prairie floor. Never mind that legions will
die and other legions live declaring in the four quarters
of this earth that they know the Book of Mormon and
the Church which espouses it to be true. Disregard all of that, and tell
me whether in this hour of death these two men would
enter the presence of their Eternal Judge quoting from and
finding solace in a book which if not the very word of God
would brand them as impostors and charlatans until
the end of time. They would not do that. They were willing to die rather
than deny the divine origin and the eternal
truthfulness one of the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is true,
and was given to bring happiness and hope to
the faithful in the travail of the last days. Brothers and sisters, God always
provides safety for the soul, and with the Book of
Mormon he has again done that in our time. Remember this declaration
by Jesus himself. Whoso treasureth up my word
shall not be deceived, and in the last days, neither
your heart nor your faith will fail you. Of this I earnestly testify
in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

  1. Two young men gave me the Book of Mormon and asked me to read a few sentences. I told them I would be reading after they left. That night I sat up all night reading from it's pages. I felt the same spirit I felt when I read from the Holy Bible. When I finished, just before dawn, I locked myself in the bathroom, dropped to my knees and asked God if this book was in fact from Him. I knew at that time it was from Him, and when I heard the story of Joseph Smith Junior, I knew in my heart he was a true prophet for God. There is no way I will ever deny these facts.

  2. If you ever get the chance to visit palmyra , NY, please visit Grandin PRINT shop. Take the free tour. To know what it took to print the first 5000 books is over whelming. The tiny print keys placed by hand to make words, that were later made into pages of text. Or the 8months or so it took to hand print and 17months to bind. Knowing this there is no reason why this would be fake. Joseph Smith was a teen when this all started,14 to be exact, the hell he went through to protect the plates should say enough. Please read and understand the history before rejecting this book. I know its true, and it will change your life for the better. I testify to it.

  3. I don't remember the exact moment that I gained my testimony that The Book of Mormon is true, but now I know that it is the true word of God and Jesus Christ some born through Holy Prophets other spoken of by themselves. I know, that God the Father and Jesus Christ live. That this is Jesus Christs true Church upon the earth, and that the Bible and Book of Mormon are true testimonies of Jesus Christ, the Lord and Saviour of this world and of all those who will believe on his name

  4. I was raised a Catholic, in the past 2 months I have doubted the very existence of God and turned to atheism, but deep down there was a part of me that couldn't let go of the thought that there very well might be more to this existence than meets the eye. Just recently I had some Mormons knocking on my door, and I asked them for a book of Mormon. I told them the next time I met them that I was an atheist but I would check out the book anyways. I am only on 2 Nephi and I must say, Joseph Smith was either a really great story teller and con artist extraordinaire or he was actually genuine in his revelations because when I read the book it feels like I am reading something that should have been included in the bible. I have read from sources that he plagerized from other sources, but a whole book? And then to go and die for it? Doesn't make sense to me. So I am left with one option, it must be a genuine revelation. This is a great video considering I am not even Mormon, there is just something about the video that makes me want to believe. Thanks for uploading and my apologies for rambling.

  6. Joseph and Hyrums' testimonies were sealed with blood, just as were prophets scattered throughout the scriptures in ages past.  This alone gives me the proof that strengthens my testimony of The Book of Mormon.  Thank you Elder Holland for reminding me of the reason I love and this gospel.

  7. Scientific and Historical 'fact' (or as they are known to imperfect men) are very fragile. They change with every small discovery made. In finding the truth of the Book of Mormon we often allow these distractions to camouflage the best course to take in finding truth. Everyone knows if you want to know the truth, you go to the source. I know that the Almighty God is the source to all truth. If you want to know whether the Book of Mormon is true and you want it for the right reasons then read the book, decide whether you think it is true or not and ask God. All other questions, Scientific or not, can then be answered based on the revelation you receive. Your revelation will probably be as simple as a feeling of peace.
I have seen the Book of Mormon in action hundreds of times. I know it is a powerful source of divine revelation for each of us should we choose to utilize it for only the most righteous purposes.

  8. I'm just a 17 year old kid but I assure you all that Joseph Smith is not a fraud. I promise you that. God's gospel and Priesthood are back. The Book of Mormon is amazing.

  9. It's rather sad how people choose not to accept such a simple concept – that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, that the Book of Mormon is true – and rather turn to what the world/Internet has to say about it.  Our message is not complicated, never has been, never will be, but it is true nonetheless, and no unhallowed hand can stop this work from progressing.

  10. Lindo o testemunho mesmo não entendendo direito mas sinto em meu coração que é verdeiro! Amo o evangelho.

  11. No one can listen to the eloquence and power from the mouth of Jeffrey R. Holland and still deny his authority from God without being a liar. He is amazing!

  12. I just got back from a youth conference trip. My stake got to go to Nauvoo and Carthage an it was amazing. The spirit is so strong and I could feel it everywhere. While visiting carthage jail, we watched this same video before going through the whole tour and Elder Hollands testimony just brought the Spirit. It was a beautiful thing. My love for Joseph and Hyrum has increased tremendously. Here I am at 15 and I know that the Book of Mormon is true and it is another testament is Jesus Christ.

  13. The Book of Mormon is the true word of the only living God. Joseph Smith did indeed see the Father and the Son in the Sacred Grove. He was and is a true prophet of the most high God.

  14. I honestly Testify that the Book of Mormon is true and its written by many ancient Prophets by the Sprit of revelation and prophesy and those who read it and pray will gain a powerfull testimony about it by the power of the Holy Ghost that this real from God and He can not lie to the Children of Men!!!

  15. This book has blessed my life! It's helped me overcome many weaknesses and has brought peace to me and my family.

  16. Such a powerful testimony of The Book of Mormon! I am a convert of 31 1/2 years to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! I know that The Book of Mormon is the Word of God, Another Testament of the Lord Jesus Christ, & that a person can come closer to God by abiding by its teachings! I know that Joseph Smith truly was a Prophet of God & that he has his place as the Prophet who was called to usher in this, the dispensation of the Fulness of the Lord's Gospel! I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints truly is the Lord's true Church on the earth today, the ONLY one with all of the Keys of the Lord's Kingdom!
There have been those, who have made fun of & persecuted me for saying this, but God my Heavenly Father blessed me with a knowledge of these truths! Even through losses & troubles, there is one thing that nobody can take away from me, & that's My Testimony of the Truthfulness of the Gospel! To as close as possible quote a young Asian naval officer, with whom President Gordon B. Hinckley once spoke, "It's true, isn't it, so what else matters???"
    Thank you very much!

  17. I heard two beautiful missionaires around 30 years ago. As a consequence. I served a mission myself. I got married in the temple. I lived a live without alcohol, cigar or drugs. I got an education and despite my origins and challenges of life. I learned about God. The world has been teaching hate, racism and others. What I learned almost 30 years ago has sutained my life and released me from so much pain. I now see and know for sure. I do not believe, I know. The book of mormon is true. Joseph Smith was a prophet. it is true. What I learned hasn't change a bit from the very first time I heard it. The world? you can look with your eyes, if you can see.

  18. I have a great love for the Book of Mormon and everything about the Mormon church. From the stories in the book to this living moment, the messages still apply and the spirit I feel when I am reading or doing something spiritual is the most amazing impression that I can't get enough of! My favorite story by far is Helaman and the 2000 stripling warriors! How just boys could go up against an out numbered army full of men all 2000 survive! That is the work of Gods hands in the hearts of those who believe! Especially cuz of the oath their fathers gave not to fight and they had the courage and strength to defend their beliefs! Samuel the laminate is amazing too!! All those arrows coming at him and not 1 could pierce him! I wish more people could not only know of the Book of Mormon but understand and share the positivity and good it has to offer! Even if you don't join the church just read it for education!

  19. i testify that the book of mormon is truly the word of God, while reading this book i feel the power of it, the Holy Ghost testifying of it that this is from God. i can't deny the Spirit.

  20. moroni 10:3-5 in the book of mormon, moroni inviting us to read and inquire to the Lord if the Book of Mormon is true. God will testify of it by the power of the Holy Ghost. millions of people are now accepted that invitation and they felt the undenying Spirit of God.

  21. I found a Book of Mormon on the ground one day. I tried to read it, but could not understand it. 2 days later, the Missionaries came knocking. I said that I would be interested in learning about their faith. I was baptised 3 months later. Heavenly Father was leading me to the Church. It is true, as is Joseph Smith. I know that Thomas S Monson is a Prophet of God, and the Church is True. In Jesus name, I say amen.

  22. I testify that the book of Mormon is true and that I grow closer to God by reading and apply the precepts in this marvelous book. I know with out doubt that every thing our church teaches is true I know that God loves us and cares for us. I know this to be true so much that i am willing to sacrifice two years to serve a mission and spend the rest of my life doing what he would have me do. I testify in the sacred name of Jesus Christ amen

  23. I've been a member all my life. It wasn't until my high school years where I started to want to have my very own testimony that the Book of Mormon was true and if Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and find out for myself. I read the whole Book of Mormon for the first time in my life. Every time I read I learned something new about the kingdom of God. I learned for myself who Jesus really was, what His Gospel is and what our purpose is here on Earth. As I finished reading the Book of Mormon I prayed to know if it was really true. I felt an answer: "You already know it's true". It was a gradual understanding of it being true, it wasn't all at once. It was an amazing and I'm glad I did it.
During my mission I decided to read the entire Book of Mormon in my mission language (Spanish). Even though I didn't understand Spanish when I first started, I always had this feeling of peace and comfort every time I read it. My most powerful spiritual experience yet was also when I was on my mission. My companion and I were teaching an investigator in our ward building. Our investigator said the closing prayer and right as he ended I was about to say "thank you for saying the prayer" when I was stopped by a feeling. I felt extremely calm and peaceful. Not one sound was made for around 5 seconds. I could tell my companion and investigator was feeling the same thing. It was my companion who asked him if he was feeling the same thing. He said yes and we told him that that was the Spirit testifying to him that what we teach is true. It felt like the room was lifted up into heaven, it was the most surreal experience! I know that this is the truth. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that He died and lived for us. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God, called to help restore Christ's church here on the Earth.
If you have doubts, don't give up. Keep praying and searching. I promise that in God's own way and time He'll reveal Himself to you.

  24. Unless you have read and pondered the book I suggest you don't judge the book by its cover only criticize the book if you've read it yourself most of yous criticize it through rumors stop being a follower and read the book yourself I testify the book is true and if you read it with sincere heart i promise you will feel the spirit we get when we read it and get the answer that the church is true!!

  25. I’m 16 and have set a date for my baptism (Feb. 17, 2018). I assure you to open your mind and read the Book of Mormon. For me, 2 Nephi 29 hit me hard as an Anti-LDS Baptist. God the God of the world, not just the Jews.

  26. The Book of Mormon is unequivocally the word of God! I have read the entire book from cover to cover and I know it's true!

  27. If the Book of Mormon wasn’t true Joseph smith and so many saints have shed thier blood for nothing but cause it’s true they have thier life and sealed thier testimony with thier blood

  28. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. Not because some person convinced me, or because someone answered all my questions. I know because I received an answer from my Heavenly Father in a direct and unmistakable answer to my sincere prayer. I know it is true. That answer from my Heavenly Father will last me a lifetime despite the struggles or trials of life that may come or the naysayers who might criticize my belief. I know in whom I have trusted.

  29. I was on the fast road to atheism ( but in the back of my mind I knew Christ was real) I guess I was just angry and disappointed in my life choices, I see that now. Anyway, long story short I read the Book of Mormon and found it to answer all the questions I had and the spirit bore testimony of the truthfulness of this book and the Prophet that translated it. The lord uses imperfect people to do his work but besides their imperfectness they do a perfect work. I love the LDS church and my family has been deeply blessed for what it has to offer.

  30. in the words of Joesph Smith ..i know it and i know that GOD knows that i know it …..i have read the BOOK of MORMON over a 150 times……….

  31. I have a testimony that this gospel is true, that the Church was restored. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It contains the truthfulness of the gospel and it bears testimony of Jesus Christ, our Savior. It is another Testament to bring all to come into Christ.

  32. One month ago, I attended EFY in Nauvoo and Carthage. Before then, my faith was shaking due to my lack of control of my depression. I was sitting next to all of these truly beautiful youth in the jail and hearing this inspiring message and I knew that the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith were the most important products of Jesus Christ and His Atonement. I have had such a strong testimony from then on out, I have the most strong desire to serve a mission for God’s church. The Spirit really does radiate off of Elder Holland. I am so elated that I got the opportunity to feel the peace that I had not in that jail with the people I love the most.

  33. This is like the only video from our Church that I see no anti-Church comments or commentators. Perhaps because you cannot disprove someone's testimony, or because they know what Elder Holland is saying is true, and they cannot deny it or disprove it.

  34. ♥️♥️ One of my top favorite apostles to listen to. I am so grateful for living Prophets, as Moses in the Bible with apostles today guiding us through this world.

I testify with every part of my heart and being that Jesus is the Christ and He and the Lord Live!

  35. I know the Book of Mormon is true and has brought me closer to my Saviour and made me a better person.

  36. i have been strong because on this book i read so powerful message i did i have be told this i need to be respect to myself i know i keep this Jesse christ told me once he say i need to walk to the light so i did in the light i see is my mum and dad and my brother

  37. I’d like to share my testimony, as I feel like some might be able to be strengthened in it.

I was raised a Baptist, with a loving and supportive family, my dad was a youth pastor and a deacon, and I have always had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. However, four years ago I began to read the Book of Mormon, and from the moment I read only a few pages I knew that it was true.

I would read it in secret, meet up with missionaries in secret because I was afraid how my parents would react. I didn’t want the parents who have been so good to me all my life to be disappointed in me.

Well Junior year of high school came along, and I stopped reading the Scriptures, and started partying with “friends”. I replaced Prayer with Weed, Fellowship with doing MDMA with other kids, and God with Acid. I went a year spiraling out of control, I was living too fast and I didn’t care.

It was senior year. One morning at 5 AM, I came home tripping out of my right mind from a party I just left from. I knocked on the door and my dad answered and he was confused, as he had no clue I snuck out let alone did any sort of drug.

I got in a crazy argument with my dad and he knew from my pupils I was on drugs. I went to my bed and talked to myself thinking other kids were with me still. . . By the time I sobered up, I felt such a wave of sorrow and disappointment. I couldn’t even pray anymore. What fool had I let myself become?

After weeks of guilt, I gave up my sons to Heavenly Father, I said I just can’t take this anymore. And he told me, “Go now and sin no more.” And I felt joy again. At that moment, sister missionaries reached out to me and invited me to visit with them. So I did so, and little by little I felt God changing me into a man, the man that he has desired for me. After 2 months of lessons I committed to baptism and joining the Church. It was THE GREATEST DECISION IVE EVER MADE.

The hardest part was the opposition that came my way. My long term girlfriend broke up with me, my family felt distant from me, and people just didn’t understand. But I have been blessed with such a joy and a peace unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ can change lives, it certainly changed mine. I testify these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
