Fair Trade Congregation

A LOCAL CHURCH IS TRYING TO MAKE PEOPLE MORE AWARE OF WHERE THE PRODUCTS THEY BUY ARE COMING FROM. FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST IN MOORHEAD PLANS TO ONLY USE ITEMS DURING THEIR FELLOWSHIP TIME THAT COME FROM SOURCES THAT SUPPORT, FAIR AND JUST TRADE. THAT MEANS THE ITEMS COME FROM PLACES THAT DON’T SUPPORT SWEAT SHOPS OR HARM THE ENVIRONMENT. MARY TATE, THE WOMAN BEHIND THE CHURCHES FAIR TRADE MARKET SAYS IT’S VITAL PEOPLE KNOW HOW PRODUCTS ARE MADE. “WE OFTEN HERE TAKE OUR LIFE STYLE FOR GRANTED. WE DON’T SEE WHAT GOES INTO MAKING THE PRODUCTS AND FAIR TRADE CALLS INTO ATTENTION TO… WHAT’S ACTUALLY HAPPENING. YOU CAN CHECK OUT THE CHURCH’S FAIR TRADE MARKET AFTER SERVICES ON MOST SUNDAYS.
