11 women rescued from human trafficking in Orleans Parish


AUBRY: GOOD EVENING. LOCAL AND FEDERAL OFFICIALS ANNOUNCED THE RESCUE OF 11 WOMEN, WHO WERE VICTIMS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING HERE IN ORLEANS PARISH. TAKE A LOOK, THIS WAS ANNOUNCED EARLIER TODAY AT A NEWS CONFERENCE. THE FBI WAS THERE. THIS WAS DONE THROUGH A TWO DAY OPERATION WHICH OCCURRED ON , THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. THE FBI WOULD NOT CONFIRM THE SPECIFIC AREAS OF THE CITY THAT THIS WAS GOING ON IN. BUT DID SAY THE WOMEN WHO WERE RESCUED WERE IN THEIR EARLY 20’S TO LATE 40’S. ONE HAD BEEN A VICTIM OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING SINCE SHE WAS 13-YEARS-OLD. LAW ENFORCEMENT MADE IT CLEAR THAT THEY WILL BE STEPPING UP DURING THE ALL STAR GAME AND MARDI GRAS. THEY SAY HUMAN TRAFFICKING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. THE COVENANT HOUSE OF NEW ORLEANS IS ALSO TAKING PART IN THIS EFFORT. THEY SAY THE PUBLIC NEEDS TO KNOW WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR IF THEY SUSPECT SOMEONE MAY BE A VICTIM.>>DO YOU SEE SOMEBODY CONTROLLING SOMEBODY ELSE’S I.D., SOMEBODY ELSE’S CELL PHONE, WHY WOULD THEY? RIGHT? SOMEBODY IS HOVERING TOO CLOSE, THEY ARE NOT GOING TO LET THEIR VERY VALUABLE PRODUCTS OR PROPERTY GET AWAY. AUBRY: THE WOMEN WHO WERE RESCUED ARE NOT EXPECTED TO FACE CHARGES.
